Billy Graham is not some special thing.  He
is just a man who was called to do a job
and he was faithful.

Billy was faithful to his calling and he was
never caught in any scandal.  That will be
his legacy.  He is no special voice from God.

Billy has done his whole life what every one
of us has been called to do.  Share the Gospel.

Billy Graham has a way of explaining meeting
God in simple terms that seems to reach people.
At the end of his messages, there is an
"invitation."

An invitation is a time at the end of a service
for people to "respond."  If you realize that
you need to get your heart right with God, or
if you feel Him motivating you to "get right,"
you would go forward to talk to a counselor
or preacher.

At the end of a crusade, the people typically
sing "Just As I Am" and the counselors go onto
the field.

While the counselors go down onto the
field, people go down for counseling.

Typically, when someone is being counseled,
the counselor will explain what it means to
"give your heart to the Lord" and then they will
help the person, if they need it, to pray to God
and surrender themselves to Him.

After the message and invitation, they raised the
backdrop on the stage so Franklin could
speak to those who came down.

Franklin is explaining what this means, so
people are not mislead.

Now the people who came forward are
praying to God, confessing sin, and asking
for forgiveness.  They are praying to God asking
Him to come into their hearts, take over their
lives and to be their God as they try to be
His people.
