Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah Valley

We went on vacation in September 2006 to drive down Skyline Drive.  Skyline Drive
takes you through the Shenandoah National Park to the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It is beautiful.  We
had a great time being out in nature and seeing places where there are not tons of people are
crammed into over priced houses.  Instead we saw how the world can look when it is left
alone.  It's good!

This is a reflecting pool in Luray Caverns.

The water is completely still.  With the flash
on, it doesn't reflect as well.

With just the light in the cavern, the reflecting
pool is a perfect mirror.

You cannot tell that there is any water there.
It is really quite fascinating.

These are called "draperies."  This specific one
really resembles a bath towel.  See the
fancy cloth work at the edge of the rock.
