Flying Skaters

I came upon some skaters doing tricks on their boards.  I asked if they would let me take some
action shots of them.  Normally, I do not post full size images on my pictures pages, but
these are full size.  So pardon the potentially slow downloads.  Now, please enjoy the thrashing
of the neighborhood boys.

I am not a skater.  If I can improve my terminology, please help me by emailing me and letting
me know what to improve.

The skaters would get up some speed
on the top concrete platform.

Then they would launch themselves and their
boards by performing an "ollie."

Then the skater and his board would fly
together through space.

If all goes very well, the skater will land on
his board (on his feet) and continue skating.

Typically, I tried to get good flights without
including the carnage that occasionally
followed.

is an ollie with the board rotating under the
skater.

This is an excellent picture of a kickflip.
See how the board is upside down but
stays with the skater.  Well done!
