New York City

The county we live in has a recreation department.  They organize occasional New York City bus
trips.  We attended one of these and had a very nice time.  NYC is about a 4 hour drive away
from where we live.  We met at the county offices at about 6:00 AM and the bus took us to
Times Square.  On the trip, we watched "Maid In Manhattan."  They gave us a snack and a bag of
coupons and information to help us on our trip.  We had to return to the bus by 7:00 PM that night
and we were on our own.  While we were there, we went to the National Museum of Natural History
(and had lunch there), Central Park, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and Chinatown (and
ate supper there - in a Chinese restaurant.  On our return trip, the trip organizers presented the
movie, "King Kong."

The Ed Sullivan Theatre is the home of CBS'
Late Show with David Letterman.
I remember when Letterman was in that little
studio on NBC.  He used to give away
Mayonnaise as prizes.

This is a theatre that has been turned into a
church.  It is Times Square Church.

Here you can see Times Square.

My wife is very excited to visit the Hershey's
store at Times Square.  It's closed, we had
to come back later.

Finally, the Hershey's store opened.  They
apparently sell the same candy that you can
buy at your local grocery store.  However, this
candy is better...  Because it costs more!  About
the only difference is they have some special
packaging for some items in this store.

We took the Subway to the National Museum
of Natural History in NYC.  Here you see some
old bones.

Here is a good demonstration of why man
is extinct.  This dinosaur is easily able to
consume this full sized human child.

This is some sort of Brontosaurus or something
similar.

This is some kid.  Why'd I take this picture?

We walked past a window and saw this dinosaur
weathervane on a building off in the distance.
This is at max zoom on my camera.

Here you see the amazing flying Pterodactyls and
flying turtles of the dinosaur era.

There were several students sketching the
various dinosaurs.

Actually, I am pretty sure this turtle didn't fly.
I suppose it was a sea turtle.

Now, this large land turtle is about to eat this
unsuspecting family!
