One of the towns we stayed in on our trip
had this creepy building near the hotel we
stayed in. I asked about it and they said it
was an asylum.

This is the facility where Virginia would send
Teenagers with mental problems. They said
that that umbrella term included learning
disabilities. These days, the nearby modern
facility has a much smaller patient population.

placed artfully along the road.

This is the asylum for adults. It was a large
campus of buildings. It looked like a small
college.

It was really creepy, but we couldn't
stop on the road to take pictures.
